Access to safe, quality and affordable medicines remains a defining challenge for health systems across Africa, where communities still face stock-outs, over-reliance on imported products, and the risks posed by substandard and falsified medical products.
Through our Medicines Access programme, the Africa Global Health Alliance works with governments, regulators, manufacturers and health facilities to strengthen the systems that deliver quality-assured medicines.
Our work spans three connected priorities: accelerating local manufacturing in East African countries; strengthening procurement and supply chain systems; and advancing medicines safety through better regulation, quality assurance and market surveillance — all in pursuit of equitable, timely access to quality medicines for every community across the continent.
